Welcome, fellow teachers! We all know how crucial it is to foster open communication with our amazing students and their families. We want everyone to feel comfortable reaching out whenever they need assistance or have questions or concerns. So, let’s explore an excellent way to establish this open line of communication: the Teacher Contact Card.
The Teacher Contact Card can be distributed either in print or displayed digitally during important events like the first day of school, Back-to-School Night, or Meet the Teacher Night. It’s super versatile!
Now, what should you include on your Teacher Contact Card? Well, here’s a handy checklist: school and classroom information, work phone number, email address, website details, and any special codes families might need, such as your Scholastic Book Club or Remind.com.
Here is a brief video describing how you can create your own Teacher Contact Card:
Another thing you can do with a Teacher Contact Card is add a QR code so they can save your contact information to their phones! To do this, follow the directions below:
- Go to www.qrcode-monkey.com
- Select vcard
- Type in all the information you want students and families to have
- Click “Create QR code”
- Download as a png (image file)
- Drag and drop QR code onto your Teacher Contact Card and resize as needed!
If you are more of a visual person, here is a video that can show you the steps:
By the way, when I posted a video about the Teacher Contact Card on TikTok, I received an overwhelming number of requests to add the template to Teachers Pay Teachers. So, guess what? I listened and made it happen! You can find the Teacher Contact Card template with four different designs, allowing you to include 3, 4, 5, or 6 pieces of information. Plus, I added a variety of cool icons for you to choose from. Oh, and there’s an editable version too, so you can personalize the heading however you like—even in a different language!
Excited to see how these Teacher Contact Cards enhance your communication with students and families. Check out the template here!
I also have another Teacher Contact Card resource that I made years ago if you are looking for something slightly different; however, you can always create your own, too! Grab the below template here. This one comes in a bunch of different colors!
Let me know if you have any questions!
